The most beautiful thing we can experience is the...
It is the source of all true art and all science. He to whom this emotion is a stranger, who can no longer pause to wonder and stand rapt in awe, is as good as dead: his eyes are closed.

It's a macaroon afternoon.
Baked chocolate macaroons with Christine, Katie and Tom today. Proceeded to have a food photoshoot. They are so beautiful :)
They didn’t taste as good as store bought ones but they weren’t that bad either. I guess we should’ve used finer almond meal than the one we bought…the macaroons ended up tasting kind of like really soft fiber cookies. And the chocolate filling...

There's no time to wait.
I took a class tonight at Studio 10 from the amazing, ridiculously talented, fresh out of Julliard, Craig Black. He taught a contemporary combo to a lovely oldies song - Crazy by Patsy Cline: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2OVtpnpCOKM
Listen to it. It’s so very 1940’s-housewife-waiting-for-her-soldier-husband-to-come-home-from-the-war-esque. Swinging polka dot dresses. Sleek and...

Summer workshops.
Took an amazing class from Jason Rillera tonight! Now I can officially die happy. Oh and please excuse my ugly sweaty face - instead, cast your gaze upon how perfect he is.

I like it so far.

Baking accomplishments.
Today I baked carrot cake cupcakes. Or technically they are carrot-ginger-vanilla-currant-walnut-almond-date-pinenut cupcakes but carrot cake is just a lot easier to type.
They turned out moist and fragrant and perfect. Which was surprising, since I didn’t really adhere to the recipe. I added a lot of extra ingredients (the nuts and the dried fruits) and a uncalled for pat of butter for...

A meaningless post.
I am lying on my bed, all sweaty and disgusting from dance. Limp and smelly and looking through pictures from the vacation my parents recently got back from.
I really love this picture that I took of my mom. Love the city of SF fading into the background.

Atonement.
“Do you love me?”
She hesitated. “Yes.” No other reply was possible. Besides, for that moment, she did. He was a lovely boy who was a long way from his family and he was about to die.
Shed tears at this part of the book.

Emotional tidbit.
I can’t even begin to express how much I love San Diego. I think going to UCSD is probably one of the best things that ever happened to me.
I can’t even begin to express how thankful I am to have dance.
There is nothing else to say.

Photography post: potluck dinner.
YAY I haven’t done one of these in a while! I finally put my camera to good use at a potluck today. It’s been pretty lonely for a couple of weeks.
Here’s a couple shots of the delicious food prepared by lovely people:
And here’s a couple shots of the lovely people themselves:
Have a great second year of college, everyone! :)

Atonement.
I only began reading Atonement last night but I’ve already been hooked under its spell. Ian McEwan is a brilliant writer. I’ve already seen the movie (starring Kiera Knightly and James McAvoy) and it’s actually one of my all time favorites (though I confess, mainly because I am in love with James McAvoy). Even though I’ve only finished a couple of chapters, it is already...

Behind the scenes.
A couple of nights ago, my mom and I had gotten into an argument over - well, now that I look back at it - something pretty trivial. Problem is, both of us were too stubborn to concede defeat. Instead of apologizing, we spent the following days ignoring each other and fuming silently in our rooms.
I hate being on bad terms with my parents. Especially with my mom, because she is also my closest...

I'm hungry
Fried egg + whole wheat flatbread + schmear of dijon mustard + more generous schmear of Trader Joe’s marsala lentil dip + avocado = breakfast heaven

Amazon's kindle is amazing
First world problem (one that bugs me the most) = not being able to carry all the books I want to read during a vacation because there is not enough room in my luggage.
PROBLEM SOLVED. Meet my new kindle, Eugene. He is beautiful. He is perfect. I can spend all night in bed with him.
Since Amazon is having a special deal in kindles right now ($114 for the most basic model!) my mom and I went...

Things I love about being at home
Home-cooked meals.
My cat.
Large fluffy towels.
Soft toilet paper.
My car.
Water that doesn’t take forever to heat up.
Clean floors.
Being able to eat healthy again.
Chinese food.
No more brita water filter.
But most of all, I really just love being with my family again.
:)
