5 things I'm missing right now.
I should really be working on my math homework right now but instead…I’ll make a list of all the things I miss about home. Major nostalgia and homesickness! In no particular order:
1. Intense hiking trips
2. My beautiful kitty lesigh
3. Taking contemporary and jazz classes, especially at studio 10
4. Food. Mr. pickles, dolce spazzio, los gatos cafe, chocolate sushi,...

It's funny how.
Guys always tell girls that they look the same with makeup as they do without makeup and therefore they really shouldn’t put any makeup on, but on the one day that a girl chooses not to put on makeup they’re usually the first ones to worriedly ask, “Are you okay? You look really tired.”

I can't move.
Three dance classes in a row….I’m dying. I was dead by the first class and the second and third ones were just zombie mode dancing

How is it that
one day life is orderly and you are content, a little cynical perhaps but on the whole just so, and then without warning you find the solid floor is a trapdor and you are now in another place whose geography is uncertain and whose customs are strange?

Spicy peanut noodles with green beans
All my apartment mates are out partying at FIJI…and I’m left experimenting with food at home. Wild friday nights, yeah baby!
So there’s this Chinese dish my mom always cooks called “liang mien”. Literally translated, it means cold noodle but it’s actually just a simple noodle dish with a peanut sauce. I was feeling kind of homesick (I miss my momma) so I...

I am currently
listening to the cooking playlist on Pandora with my apartment mates while baking almond cupcakes. The first song that comes on is like….really sexy French kitchen music. Like cooking at the stove with nothing but an apron on and stirring the soup seductively while waiting for your husband to come home from work.
“Baby, wanna stir my cupcakes…?” “Oh honey, give me...

Doodles in calculus.
HAHA SO…I was looking through all my past doodles today and I realized that the doodles I draw (when I’m not paying attention to my math professors) are the strangest, most twisted doodles ever. I think I must really hate math or something…because the classes seem to drive me to draw the most abnormal things.
Drawn during AP Calculus BC senior year:

The truth is.
That you can divide your heart in all sorts of interesting ways - a little here, a little there, most banked at home, some of it coined out for a flutter. But love cleaves through the mind’s mathematics. Love’s lengthways splits the heart in two - the heart where you are, the heart where you want to be. How will you heal your heart when love has split in two?

View from my apartment.
The weather in La Jolla has been really disappointing. Sadness. But slightly cloudy weather = beautiful views from my apartment :) Leaned out of my window and snapped a couple shots:

What doesn't kill you.
Only makes you stronger. This is going to be a very cliche post.
I relish the soreness and the bruises that come after a brutal day of dancing. Here are the results of working on choreo with Samath the other day. The bruise actually looks kind of green in person D:
I haven’t really felt like this for a while. Don’t get me wrong, hip hop classes are REALLY intense cardio workouts,...

Photography post: SD restaurant week.
I remember seeing advertisements for SD restaurant week last year and really wanting to go! This year, I finally got the chances to sample two restaurants :) The first place we went to was called La Gran Terraza. It’s this beautiful little restaurant located on the gorgeous campus of USD. They had a $15 special tasting menu AND a $10 buffet…so obviously, being the fatass and cheapass I...

Love blurs your vision.
but after it recedes, you can see more clearly than ever. It’s like the tide going out, revealing whatever’s been thrown away and sunk: broken bottles, old gloves, rusting pop cans, nibbled fishbodies, bones. This is the kind of thing you see if you sit in the darkness with open eyes, not knowing the future. The ruin you’ve made.

More and more I find
that people in my industry show kindness and warmth only after A) you’ve impressed them or B) they want something from you. Maybe that’s society in general. How about being friendly just because? Smiles and “hello’s” are free - No one should have to prove themselves to receive them.

Picture post: san francisco.
Went on a day trip to San Francisco for some post-birthday celebrating with some of my favorite people! I love San Francisco. You won’t find another city quite like it…it’s a chaotic and beautiful mishmash of culture.
We spent the entire day in the Mission district. Had a vegetarian lunch at Udupi Palace (which was surprisingly filling - I had a potato dosa washed...

I have to admit.
I HATE to admit it…but I think Paula Deen might actually have it right. Butter is the answer to everything. To baking. To all our problems. To life. bahahaha just kidding
I made an almond pie with my mom today. The crust: flour, an egg, sugar and a pinch of salt, a stick and a half of butter. The filling: crushed almonds, almond flour, sugar, another stick and a half of butter. But oh my...
